Amazon Adventure - Day 3

Day 3 -

We again woke up at the crack of dawn and ate breakfast. And oh, should I mention that I didn't really like any of there food that much. I lived off of pineapple (and their pineapple you can eat the cores of, it's so wild) and watermelon. And for dinner they served fish so I just had to grin and bear it, the fried fish was the best out of all of it, but I can say I branched out and tried it. But mainly sustained myself with those fruits oh and plantains which are weird, but aren't actually that bad. Then we went piranha fishing again and dind't really catch anything this time, while we fried in the sun because our motor canoe didn't have a shade thingy. Next, we went to another village and saw how the people prepared food from the jungle and how they sustained themselves with barely anything from the outside world, it was really cool. Then we headed over to a beach for a couple of hours and swam and hung out... did I swim in that water??? HELL NO!!!! Ok the water was ORANGE. Water is supposed to be BLUE, so no I dind't get in. So I just sat on the beach and relaxed and such. Then we all got back on the boat and headed over to a lodge where the natives put on a dance/show for us. It was AMAZING!!! so much fun to watch. I took a lot of videos of it because there costumes were gorgeous. Anyways, then we got back on our riverboat and headed back to the city of Manaus. We had an hour trip back to the airport, then had to wait there for 2 hours. Until our flight at 3:30am. We again had a layover in Brasilia and this time it was 3 hrs. Then back to Salvador and another hour busride back to the ship. And what's the FIRST thing i did...? Strip off EVERYTHING and jump in the shower. I don't think I've EVER been more excited to take a shower in my entire LIFE!!!!! Ok onto the bathroom/shower situation. I didn't take a shower for 3 1/2 days. I was a mixture of sweat, bug spray, sweat, more sweat and even more sweat. The sinks were outside the bathrooms and were completely covered in bugs... NASTY. The bathrooms were lil toilets that you couldn't throw the toilet paper into... you had to throw them in a trash can NEXT to the toilet... GROSS!!!! and then when you flushed it went STRAIGHT into the river we just swam in and refilled with the river water. The sinks took the water straight from the river so it too was orange. We had to brush our teeth and such with bottled water and it was disgusting. I couldn't/didn't even want to wash my hands in the sink with the disgusting river water so I used purell most of the time. So it was disgusting and my hair looked like something else... I finally found a girl to braid it for me, so it wasn't COMPLETELY out of control until the very end. OMG I think I stood in the shower for 10 min and just STOOD there... man it was sooo nice. This trip was absolutely amazing and I'm so glad I was able to experience it. Yes I can say I went into the rainforest, will I ever do it again, probably not, but these are the fun things you get to try and find out when your studying abroad haha. The rainforest was beautiful, I mean don't get me wrong, but we just basically saw plants and bugs. So excuse me if I offended anyone by not liking the rainforest haha... to each his own I guess. Well I hope you all enjoyed reading about my adventure and I love you all and can't wait to hear what you think about it. If you feel like I've left anything out as I might well have done, just ask me q's about it, I'd love to answer them for you. Hope all is well and I send my love to everyone...
